A. Help a friend discover chiropractic
This is the most intimate image – two children exploring
and discovering their shared world. The focus is simple –
a stick between floor boards - but their momentary lives are filled
with this single thing. There is a generosity in their play. The
boy holds the stick, happy with the girl’s attention. Big
brother. The girl shares the moment, happy to be invited in. Little
sister. More than the other images, we feel the closeness of their
relationship – they are blood. Forever is their bond, yet
now only young. Not despite their age, but because of it, the viewer
experiences the truth of friendship. And of the journey shared.
We remember that unjudged acceptance, and the unforced rhythms of
grace that are childhood moments in time.
Artist’s note:
Both boy and girl are explorers. This was one of the easier images
to take. Unforced, they sat so still. In photography, unlike many
other artforms, decisions about shutter speed, aperture, light direction,
angle of view, edge of frame distractions, and depth of field are
instant. Digital technology allows post-production editing now,
but when shooting print film, it is important to get it right the
first time. Most of the images were taken during unstructured play,
and this peaceful playtime allowed the most thinking time. I followed
them to their favourite place, and they shared a wonderful thing
– each other. I only used one frame. PC
