C. Chiropractic – because some kids need
a gentle push
Stationary swing holds patient boy. (Arms steady, hold the rope,
your spine the fulcrum of your body.) Here is a moment in time.
The playground, a lone child waits. He can’t do it by himself.
He needs a gentle push. Won’t someone help him? We see this
moment in our lives. I just need someone to give me one small thing.
Who will provide it? If I sit here, they will come. They will give
me a gentle push. This, right now, I need. This moving image evokes
the emotions of trust, patience, and faith. And longing. Here, in
black and white, with a child on a swing, we remember ourselves.
Artist’s note:
A bit of subject movement here, so I used a fast exposure for clarity.
As a paediatric chiropractor, I now see more paediatric patients
in a week than I once saw in a year. Our centre sees over 10,000
paediatric patients per year. 80% of those are under 12 months old.
The average number of visits to correct subluxations is three. Our
own studies at Chiropractic Children’s Heathcare, Victoria,
Australia, estimate that 60% of all children have an articular subluxation.
This increases to 90% of those born of traumatic labour. So, how
important is a chiropractic assessment for infants? Extremely. In
response to this need, many posters about paediatric chiropractic
have acid in them. “Fear the unadjusted child.” Fear
is used enough in our culture. So I have created this gentle image,
and linked it to a simple truth. Some kids do need help (up to 90%,
in fact), and chiropractors are uniquely trained to provide it.
We have found a particularly positive response to this image. It
has been the sole motivation for many parents bringing their child
for an assessment. PC
